Tree Davis programs include tree planting, tree care, tree monitoring, and other efforts to help us fulfill our mission of expanding and enhancing the urban forest by teaching our community to plant and care for trees. We strive to keep Davis and surrounding communities clean, green, and cool!

Our organization is driven by its volunteers and members.

Since 1992, TREE Davis has planted over 9,000 trees in Davis parks, greenbelts, city streets, and local wildlife areas. We provide volunteers, tools, and planting facilitation in partnership with the City of Davis. We plant approximately 150 to 300 trees per year. We are taking suggestions for future planting sites.

Beginning in late 2015, Tree Davis also partners with the City of West Sacramento to bring free trees to communities with low canopy through the Trees for Tomorrow program.

Small Tree Maintenance

City of Davis Urban Forest Manager, Rob Cain, works with volunteers to prune a tree for structure at Arroyo Park

We partner with the City of Davis to involve citizens in the planting and maintenance of city street trees for strong, healthy structure and form. With six training workshops and six hands-on pruning events, we prune around 300 trees per year. Most trees are under twenty feet, but we also prune suckers off of larger trees as needed. We are available to speak at neighborhood association meetings about tree care and how to improve growth and vigor.

Tree Monitoring and Mapping

Tree Davis maintains a public tree map showing all of the trees volunteers are currently monitoring and caring for.

Through a partnership with the City of Davis, Tree Davis interns assist with the monitoring of city trees. It’s difficult to care for the urban forest if you don’t know what it contains, so we are glad to assist in keeping our city tree inventory accurate and up to date.
