Green Volunteer Training (Winter 2025 Recap)
Tree Davis & Central Park Gardens: Growing Green Spaces, Together
In early 2025, Tree Davis and Central Park Gardens launched the first-ever Green Volunteer Training program—a hands-on opportunity for community members to deepen their connection to the environment and gain skills in sustainable gardening and tree care.
Over the course of the program, volunteers:
- Attended an introductory Zoom session that set the stage for community building and shared learning.
- Participated in three in-person training sessions focused on gardening, tree planting, and environmental stewardship.
- Worked side-by-side with experienced leaders in horticulture and urban forestry.
Committed to ongoing volunteer work to maintain and expand Davis’s public green spaces.
What We Achieved
- 15 community members trained as Green Volunteers
- Volunteers contributed many hours of hands-on service across Central Park Gardens and Tree Davis sites
- They provided critical support for ongoing maintenance, seasonal plantings, and tree care project
A lasting network of engaged, passionate individuals continues to support our mission throughout the year
Though the formal training program has now concluded, the impact continues through the dedication of our volunteers. Many participants have gone on to become regulars at Tree Davis and Central Park Garden events, helping us nurture urban ecosystems that benefit both people and wildlife.
